This past weekend was the first time I’ve had the pleasure of photographing a wedding at Castle Farms in Charlevoix, MI, and I must say it was simply amazing! I arrived early to scout the facility before the wedding party arrived and it didn’t take long for me to fall in love. Big stone walls, great light, a beautiful reception hall, the list goes on. Oh and by the way, probably the best meal I’ve had at a wedding ever =).
Of course the beauty of the venue was second only to the love that Kathryn and Jason share for each other. You guys were simply a joy to work with. I truly am thankful that they allowed me to be part of their day and capture the love the two of you share for each other.

Before we headed to Castle Farms, I met the girls at the Weathervane Terrace Inn, in downtown Charlevoix. I was able to capture a few ‘getting ready’ shots before moving on to the Castle to meet with the groom & groomsmen.
A quick shot of the grounds I was able to capture in between raindrops. Luckily the rain held off for most of the day, and we only saw a few raindrops just after the wedding ceremony had completed.
Jason and the groomsmen. Quite a handsome bunch wouldn’t you say?
How awesome are these shoes??
One thing I can say about Castle Farms, is that it has some spectacular natural light locations. I love the directional light that falls on my bride’s face in these next shots. LOVE photographing here!
Some detail shots of the East Garden banquet room. Loooove the purple flowers as an accent =).
Then the ceremony began in the Queen’s Courtyard.
Just after dinner I snagged Jason & Kathryn and snuck out to the Castle Farms grounds for a few shots in the setting sun. I love backlighting my subjects in the setting sun as it helps create some really dynamic and interesting images.
My first really successful attempt at an HDR image.
